Apple launches iPhone touch payment in Japan

Apple has launched “iPhone touch payment” in Japan, which allows local businesses to accept in-person contactless payments with just an iPhone.

From now on, small and medium-sized businesses to large retailers will be able to seamlessly and securely accept contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets using the iPhone, Apple has announced.

This feature, which is being developed in the U.S. and other countries as “Tap to Pay on iPhone,” uses the iPhone’s built-in NFC to enable users to make payments by simply holding an Apple Pay or touch-compatible credit or debit card or digital wallet over an iPhone at a merchant store through an iOS app. Payment can be completed by simply holding the iPhone over a merchant’s iPhone.
